AWAD Entrants

The Woking Aquathlon is suitable for all Athletes With A Disability. There is ample disabled parking and all facilities are accessible. A hoist will be made available on poolside if you need assistance getting in or out of the pool. We will provide an exclusive lane for Visually Impaired athletes who need their guide to swim alongside them. Please let us know if you will need such arrangements or any other help in order to make you race as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

For safety and to ensure that it is suitable for all racers using any type of equipment, the AWAD course will follow the same route as the juniors course.  This is completely flat and avoids identified issues of the "staggered bike gate" and traction on the steepest hill of the main course.  The surface is reasonable but certainly not perfect.  Novice racers will complete 4 laps, the full distance will be 8 laps.

The British Triathlon website (link to the right) has details of the various AWAD classifications.  Of particular note are rules around helpers for competitors with disabilities.
